Fist of the north star was the earliest anime i remeber watching i didn't know what anime was though all i thought at the time was that they swear in it and thats AWESOME gotta watch more the next one i saw was devilman that completly messed me up for a while i was only 7 or so when i watched it.

p.s if you have kids don't let them watch devilman

my first expousure was from Robotech and Voltron, then DBZ and Gundam Wing

Course I live in the U.S. and back in the early 90's the US did not get much Jap anime lol

The 1st anime I saw were flame or Recca and Grander Musashi and then got hooked up wid animes

Akira, Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell, Serial experiments lain, and DBZ when i was 13. Yeah i didnt really understand Akira or GitS to much.

When I was little my grandma (on my japanese side) would make me watch lots of random kid animes without subtitles and everything, which eventutally led me to Dragonball then Zoids

mine was vampire hunter D..from what I can remember it was on late night on cable at a baby sitters house...really dark and horror based, even for my first. Or at least this is my fav first...
